In a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, comedian John Mulaney skewered Donald Trump, comparing him to a contestant on game show Family Feud.
The Republican presidential race has been quite . . . entertaining over the course of the last few months, with odd, crazy, and quite often laughable comments from most of the candidates. And Donald Trump has certainly had more than his fair share. Regardless of his business acumen, comments like "'We're gonna get the wall built...and Mexico's gonna pay for the wall,'" are simply comedy gold.
And comedian John Mulaney is no stranger to making fun of Donald Trump, making fun of the billionaire businessman back when he was starring in his own show The Apprentice. According to Mulaney:
"'Donald Trump is like what a hobo imagines a rich man to be. Like, Trump was walking around under an underpass and he heard some guy like, 'Ah, as soon as my number comes in, I'm going to put up tall buildings with my name on them. I'll have fine golden hair and a TV show where I fire Gene Simmons with my children.'"
And the recent Republican presidential debates haven't escaped his commentary either. Comparing the political race to the Family Feud tv show, Mulaney declared that Trump is "not good at running for president, he's just good at 'Family Feud.' And these other people are terrible at 'Family Feud.' So when the Steve Harvey of this election is like, 'Name something that's bothering Americans,' and Ted Cruz is like, 'Benghazi,' then Trump is like, 'All the problems,' and that's the No. 1 answer on the board. So he's pretty good at it."
Alas, it's an accurate summation of the current Republican field. I'm conservative myself, and I'm more than a bit concerned (and amused) by this election's potential candidates.
