Houston Texans Sign former Cowboy Brandon Weeden, Remain Committed to Mediocrity at QB

All I can say is, wow. Just wow. Also, really, Houston Texans? You must be ultra-committed to mediocrity with signing former Dallas Cowboy Brandon Weeden, especially at the QB position.

Seriously.

Considering all of the pathetic play they've seen at quarterback the past couple of years, including this one, you'd think they would just stay away from mediocre (at best) veteran quarterbacks -- and former Cleveland Browns, no less.

After starting the year with Ryan Mallett, you didn't things could much worse. Here was a guy with potential, but he clearly didn't have the type of work ethic and dedication necessary to succeeding in the NFL. He was cut after playing poorly and then "sleeping" through practice.

With him gone, Brian Hoyer didn't have to fight Mallett each week for playing time and was given the full-time position. Sometimes that's a good thing, and sometimes that's a scary thing for fans. They really never know where they stand with Hoyer week to week, and that type of inconsistency has really hurt this team all year long. Even though his stats aren't too bad, many of his 13 touchdown passes have come in garbage time or against poor defenses, and his accuracy has been spotty.
