'John Wick 2' Rumors: No Dead Puppies

The formerly-retired hitman John Wick returns to New York sometime next year, and don't worry, there won't be any dead puppies. Here's what you should expect.

John Wick has developed something of a following, and was actually popular enough to make into the crime-spree game Payday 2 as an extra playable character. Focusing both on drama and action, the original John Wick film starring Keanu Reeves, didn't do exceptionally in the U.S., but coupled with overseas revenue made a good profit.

So what's coming in John Wick 2? Well, first off, it has been confirmed that Ian McShane will be returning as the owner of The Continental, a hotel that "houses all the resources a working hitman needs and operates with a strict 'no violence on the premises' rule that sees violators punished with death." I can't wait to see it again. That was an awesome place.

The primary villain is Common, who will "portray a female crime lord's head of security." This is probably going to make for some rather interesting scenes. I've always found the best tension comes when the main threat is not the leader of a group, but rather an underling who far exceeds the capabilities of their boss. The power behind the throne, so to speak.

And of course, we mustn't forget another important thing, no more dead dogs. In a recent interview with Collider, Reeves said: "I don't know if it's to top that emotional hit, but it's certainly to have an emotional hit like, "Why tell the story? Why do we need to do this again? How do we do that without doing another dog?" So we speak about John Wick, the next chapter, and what is that emotional hook, what is that? So I think we have a good idea of that."

I for one and certainly looking forward to the next round of John Wick.
