For a moment it looked as though Sean Penn might be bouncing back from his engagement from Charlize Theron coming off the rails as the Mystic River Oscar winner was seen palling around with ex-wife, Madonna. According to the latest gossip news updates, Penn's daughter, Dylan, has since insisted, however, that her dad and the material girl are nothing more than old friends. Meanwhile, Charlize certainly doesn't seem to be dwelling on their split. It was recently revealed that the Monster actress has had her hands full mothering the last two months wtih the little baby sister she recently brought home to her adopted son, Jackson.
Since being spotted front row at Madonna's recent concert in Madison Square Garden, the rumors that Sean Penn and his first wife are considering a reconciliation have intensified, but his daughter with Robin Wright, Dylan, thinks those reports are a bit overblown.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the supermodel chalked her dad's interest in his ex up to his love of solid-gold pop hooks (via People):
"I think he just really admires her work.
"They're just really good friends and [I think] it's sweet that they can have this relationship."
As much as she might respect Penn's newfound friendship with Madonna, Dylan admitted that it was a little odd meeting father's first great love:
"It was kind of surreal to meet her...Like, my dad's ex-lover."
Despite her steamy romance with Penn rapidly cooling at the end of the summer, Charlize Theron has reportedly been too busy raising her new adopted baby daughter to worry herself with what went wrong.
One source in the latest November 2, issue of Star magazine explains that as busy as the new baby keeps Charlize, she thinks the world of her daughter, August:
"Having Jackson really softened Charlize and made her more tender and compassionate. And now with August as part of the family, she feels complete.
"Her friends constantly joke about how she has turned to mush -- she can't stop kissing and cuddling her little girl."
