Every week of the fantasy football season, there are guys who you just know are going to bust out and have a big performance. Entering Week 7, the man who should be at the top of everyone's list for DFS sites or (if you're lucky enough to own him) normal fantasy leagues is none other than RB Todd Gurley of the St. Louis Rams. He's set for a monster performance this week.
This may not come as a major shock to most avid fantasy players, as Gurley has torn it up in his last two starts rushing for just over 300 yards on 49 carries. However, expect a game that could test record books this week as he's going up against the softest run defense in the league: the Cleveland Browns.
On the year, Cleveland is allowing a league-worst 149.8 yards per game on the ground, and have given up six rushing touchdowns -- tied for fourth worst. Even then, the saddest thing about those numbers is that five of their six games were against teams that strike almost zero fear into the heart of any average defense with their run game.
While the Browns have been relatively competitive in football games this year, if the Rams play this right, they could absolutely obliterate them this Sunday.
St. Louis is coming off of their bye week, so everyone is going to be fresh. If I'm head coach Jeff Fisher, I'm pounding the ball down their throats all game, giving Gurley at least 30 carries. If that happens, Gurley will eclipse 200 yards with ease, and maybe even push the 300-yard mark. He's been that good, and the Browns are that bad.
Gurley should finally break the seal and score his first rushing touchdown of the year, and then most likely his second. And potentially his third as well.
By the end of the game, we'll be looking at the best game for a running back so far in 2015 (sorry, Devonta Freeman), and the top fantasy play for Week 7.
Just for fun, enjoy these highlights of what the Browns' peewee run defense will get a taste of on Sunday.
