Game Prediction: Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for the Cubs as they look to even the series up at 1-1 heading back to Wrigley Field. It is as close to a must-win game as anything could get this time of year. St. Louis has to be happy with their 4-0 win in Game 1 and are going to come in tasting blood in the water against their NL Central rivals.
If the Cubs want to have any chance of coming back in this series, their offense has to get going. Whether it was first game jitters or whatever happened in Game 1, the Cubs looked absolutely lost against John Lackey and the Cardinals.
Jaime Garcia will be starting for the Cardinals in Game 2, which certainly gives them an advantage on the mound. He finished the 2015 regular season with a 10-6 record to go along with 2.43 ERA. Those numbers show how dangerous he is capable of being and why it won't be easy for the Cubs' offense to get going.
St. Louis came through with a solid offensive performance in Game 1, although most of their runs came in the final innings. Hendricks is more than capable of getting shelled, which should concern Cubs fans.
More than likely this will be a close game through the majority of it, although the Cardinals could blow it up early against Hendricks.
No matter what ends up happening this game, the Cubs are simply happy to be at this point. They have outplayed their expectations all season long and to be playing the Cardinals in the NLDS is a huge step for their franchise. Chicago certainly could come back to win this series, but they really need to get the job done in Game 2.
