Despite their wedding in Venice last September being the celebrity event of that year, George Clooney kept his first anniversary with wife Amal Alamuddin surprising low key. According to the latest gossip news updates, Batman did his best to explain the snub away, but some of those closest to him are claiming it is a sign that the marriage is all but over. If a divorce is likely on the horizon, it will no doubt devastate the wife of his Casamigos tequila business partner, Cindy Crawford. While much has been made of the ladies' reported dislike of one another, Mrs. Rande Gerber insisted she absolutely adored the London lawyer at the Miami launch of her new book, Being Cindy.
While their Venice nuptials would be considered a bit over-the-top even by Hollywood's standards, George Clooney barely took Amal Alamuddin to dinner for their one year wedding anniversary.
Doing his best to explain away the lackluster evening, Clooney claims in the latest October 19, issue of OK! Magazine that you're not supposed to do much of anything until you've been married for quite a while:
"What are you going to do, shoot off fireworks?
"Sometimes you just go to dinner...You don't go crazy on the first, you know."
The insider that the National Enquirer spoke to, however, insists that this anniversary snub is just the latest sign that Clooney is less than happy with his barrister bride:
"The honeymoon is definitely over.
"To George, his marriage certificate is just like any other contract,
"The Amal experiment has backfired badly, and he's looking for a way out."
Regardless of George's current feelings about Amal, his best friend's wife seems absolutely smitten with the international human rights lawyer.
During a recent interview with People magazine at her book launch in Miami, the Cindy Crawford talked about what a pleasure it has been to get to know Amal over the past year or so:
"I think one of the things I love about Amal is that she's not only interesting -- she's very interesting to talk to - but she's also interested in your world as well.
"She can talk to my kids about their thing, or she'll talk to me about my book or my business...She's interested in my life, just like I'm interested in her life."
What do you think about George Clooney puny wedding anniversary?
Is it a sign that things are likely coming to an end between Batman and his bride?
Or, is Clooney just saving up so he can do something insane for their five and ten year anniversaries?
