Spoiler Alert: Tonight, Chicago P.D. is back. The hit spin-off of Chicago Fire starts its third season tonight and the after effects of Nadia’s death are still looming. Recently, the show boss, Matt Olmstead, opened up about how Lindsay (Sophia Bush) is processing the events of Season 2.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Chicago P.D., titled “Life Is Fluid,” reads:
“In the Season 3 premiere, a detective is abducted by a heroin kingpin; Lindsay's downward spiral continues; Olinsky confides in Platt about a secret from his past; and Roman shares his worries with Burgess about her impending marriage to Ruzek.”
Chicago P.D. executive producer Matt Olmstead recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how Lindsay (Sophia Bush) is handling last year’s death of Nadia:
“We pick up with her and she’s committed to keeping the party going, because it’s easier to do that than to face the guilt and grief she has over the loss of Nadia (Stella Maeve) from last year. She was grooming Nadia to one day be a cop, much like Voight (Jason Beghe) groomed Lindsay. Lindsay was a teenager and ironically partying with her mom many years ago, and so she was wanting to return the favor to Nadia and Nadia didn’t make it, and that really ultimately sent Lindsay off the rails.
“So, she’s checked out, and that becomes the journey for her in the first few episodes. What’s important to her? Is it too late to come back? Does she want to come back? Then, certainly for everybody in Intelligence, every time they’re working you’re looking at an empty desk where she used to work, a desk that’s not going to remain empty forever, they’re definitely going to have to fill it if she’s not going to come back.”
Be sure to tune into Season 3 premiere of Chicago P.D., tonight at 10:00 p.m. eastern on NBC.
