‘Scandal’ Kerry Washington Talks Quitting TV Show? [CAST NEWS]

While Kerry Washington has absolutely turned playing Olivia Pope on Shonda Rhimes' ABC hit Scandal into the role of a lifetime, the Django Unchained beauty admits that she is already thinking about quitting acting for good. According to the latest gossip news updates, the TV star has no intention of retiring while the popular show is on the air, however. In fact, Washington claims the part of Pope has enriched her life in countless ways. The 38-year-old New York native even insists that she probably would never have had the courage to have a baby with her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, if not for finding her own inner strength through playing the D.C fixer.

Although she is quite a few years away from meeting the minimum age to start collecting her social security retirement benefits, Kerry Washington has no problem admitting that she has already started fantasizing about the day when she can walk away from acting for good.

In the latest October 5, issue of In Touch, Kerry explained that she wouldn't ever quit Scandal, but the thought of retiring has crossed her mind more than a time or two:

"I try to quit acting all the time. Not necessarily the show -- it's not that I would ever walk away from Scandal -- but at times I am like, 'Eh, I'm done with this acting thing.'

"But being able to tell the story brings me back."

Besides, Washington owes too much to her character on the show to ever do her the disservice of dropping her flat.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kerry claimed that were it not for the lessons she learned playing Olivia Pope it is doubtful that she would have ever found it in herself to become a mother in real-life (via Huffington Post):

"I don't know if I would be a mom today if it weren't for her.

"The really has taught me to be resilient and to be able to juggle a lot at once. Both the experience of playing her -- because she's somebody who never backs down, and never gives up and knows there's always a solution -- but also the responsibility of playing her as a professional."

What do you think about Kerry inspiring herself to become a mother?

Is Olivia Pope really an inspiration to women everywhere that they too can be infinitely strong?
