Although she has made a point of keeping her private life as far away from the media as possible, the tabloids have finally come looking for Scandal's Olivia Pope. According to the latest gossip news updates, Kerry Washington's marriage to former NBA pro-baller Nnamdi Asomugha is all but over. Word has it that the new mom has already seen a divorce lawyer so she and her soon-to-be ex-husband can save their baby any further exposer to their toxic relationship. The Django Unchained beauty's personal life may be on the rocks, but her star in Hollywood is still rising. In addition to appearing on ABC's very popular political drama, Washington has also been cast as Clarence Thomas accuser Anita Baker in the new HBO film, Confirmation.
In almost no time at all Kerry Washington's personal life has seemingly exploded all across the Internet tabloids, who are all claiming that her marriage to Nnamdi Asomugha is in a severe state of distress.
One source claiming to be close to Kerry insists in the May 11, issue of In Touch Weekly, she has known that their relationship was finished for a while now, but was hoping to put off their official disillusion until a more opportune time:
"She's already consulted with a divorce attorney and they're hashing out the details.
"She wanted to wait until there was a break in shooting so she could properly go over the paperwork."
The informant goes on to suggest that the reason the Asoumughas are getting the divorce now is for the betterment of their 1-year-old daughter, Isabelle:
"They know it will be better for her if they are divorce.
"They've been sleeping in separate bedrooms since before she born -- the marriage has been over for a long time."
Regardless of the state of things between the Olivia Pope actress and her retired beau, Washington's career is doing just fine.
The head Gladiator has been cast as Clarence Thomas temptress, Anita Baker, alongside Wendell Pierce as the Supreme Court Justice, in a new HBO filmed based on the sex scandal that rocked D.C. way back in 1991.
From the synopsis obtained by The Wrap, it sounds like the new movie, Confirmation, is going to be about Thomas' getting nominated as a whole and it's impact of our society -- not just the alleged impropriety:
"Confirmation details the explosive 1991 Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill Supreme Court nomination hearings, which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way we think about sexual harassment, victims' rights and modern-day race relations."
Because it's not just TV, it's HBO.
