Weekend Deals on Steam: Stardock Games Up to 75% Off

Steam is the place to go for all your PC gaming needs, and this weekend, they really good deals on Stardock games, up to 75% off some of their best titles.

Stardock is one of the best sci/fi and fantasy strategy game producers in the world, with hit series like Sins of a Solar Empire, Fallen Enchantress and the Galactic Civilizations series, and this weekend, you can get some serious discounts on their games. If you've been thinking to expand your strategy collection but price has been in your way, check out Steam today!

Even new titles are on sale. Galactic Civilizations III is 50% off. This is a great turn-based strategy game, and I've put dozens of hours into it already. With completely revamped options for custom civilizations and new resources, technologies, and tactics, Galactic Civ III is a great game for empire builders. Map options have improved, allowing players more choices in galaxy design, even in randomly generated maps. A spiral, Milky Way style galaxy is an option now. Additionally, you can add your own or other people's custom civilizations into your game, with up to 100 empires playing in the same galaxy. I love diplomacy and playing one empire against another, and with the sheer number of choices to make in GC III, game-play is even better than its predecessor, Galactic Civilizations II.

Speaking of which, GC II is 75% off, putting it at a mere $4.99 for an excellent game. If you don't feel like spending $25 for GC III, grab this one and try out the series. I still play it from time to time even though I own both games. They have a different feel and the same strategies may play out differently in these games.

Switching to fantasy, check out Sorcerer King or Fallen Enchantress, which are 50% and 75% off respectively. Both mix elements of turn-based civilization building strategy with RPG aspects for characters to give you the best of both worlds.

If you prefer a more active role, take a look at the Sins of a Solar Empire real-time strategy games, particularly SoaSE: Rebellion. The latest in the series, Rebellion brings in Titans, massive, one-of-a-kind monstrosities that can wipe out an enemy fleet all on their own. Additionally, each of the original factions has been split in two, with unique regular and capital ships, Titans, and research options. But that's not all. The modding community has put out quite a few excellent choices to change the game up even further, whether a complete overhaul of the factions to produce entirely new races with their own abilities and artwork (some of which is better than the original game) or smaller additions like new planet types and warp points. One thing I will caution readers about with this game is that it is a little bit outdated in regards to RAM usage. The game can only utilize 2 GB of RAM (which I've learned the hard way). If it takes more than that, regardless of the 12 GB I have in my system, the game crashes. I usually don't have any issue running the game unless I'm playing on the largest maps with hundreds of ships for multiple hours. I enjoy the game, even with its flaws, but do keep this in mind if you are looking for a good RTS
