Amy Schumer, the Emmy Award winning actor and star of the hit comedy movie, Trainwreck, has scored a $10 million book deal. This is yet another feather in the cap for the talented comedian from New York whose star is on the rise.
Bidding is believed to have ended this Friday, although which publisher won the much sought after book is currently unknown. Schumer follows in the footsteps of several other female comedians like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling, whose books Bossypants, Yes Please and Is Everyone Hanging Out With Me?, respectively, have taken the industry by storm and even made the New York Times best selling list in some cases.
Schumer's definitely a hot topic this year, and the timing for her book deal is perfect. Her comedy series, Inside Amy Schumer, won the Emmy Award for Best Variety Sketch Series. Trainwreck, the 2015 summer hit comedy which Schumer both wrote and starred in, has raked in over $130 million worldwide. With successes like this, Schumer can only rise higher.
The bidding for the book deal closed before her Emmy win. Yahoo! Finance reports, "Her Emmy win for Inside Amy Schumer on Sunday didn't even factor into the sale. Bidding apparently ended on Friday." Who knows what kind of deal Schumer could have made if the bidding had ended a week later? However, it's unlikely she's complaining as $10 million for the initial contract is a great deal, and that doesn't even count the upcoming royalties!
If you're a fan of Amy Schumer, be on the lookout for her new book, the launch date has not been released. We'll be letting you know when it's out!
