Long since gone are the days when animates movies were filled with voice actors that no one ever heard of, but the current cast of Universal's The Secret Life of Pets comes off as the Cannonball Run of the genre. According to the latest gossip news updates, monster comedic talents, Louis CK, will be joined by everyone from Kevin Hart to Albert Brooks with all sorts a funny men and women sandwiched in-between. While Trainwreck star, Amy Schumer, will probably give the project a pass given its inclusion of fellow heavy hitters like, Jenny Slate and Bobby Moynihan, the acerbic roast wit really wants to see Kevin Hart's run of Hollywood blockbusters come to an end.
It's not surprising for a studio like Universal to get a few big names attached to any one of their animate movies, but getting exhausted Albert Brooks to agree to anything is always a real coup.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, not only is The Secret Life of Pets going to feature a fairly predictable casting choice like Kevin Hart, it's slated to include a who's who of comedic icons to boot:
"Kevin Hart, Louis C.K. and Eric Stonestreet's upcoming animated project is headed for a summer release.
"The film also stars Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress and Albert Brooks.
"Chris Renaud, the director of Despicable Me and its sequel, is helming the project. Brian Lynch, and Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio wrote the script."
While, truth be told, Amy Schumer will probably be more than happy to see the new star studded cartoon, she recently joked at CinemaCon that the inclusion of Kevin Hart could be a real deal-breaker.
During her acceptance speech for Breakthrough Performer of the Year, Schumer joked that she genuinely hoped that the National Association of Theater Owners would strongly consider shelving Kevin Hart's films indefinitely:
"Look I'm new to Hollywood, obviously. I haven't gotten an eating disorder yet, but I already feel like I want to ask you guys a favor if it's not too much. If you could only show Trainwreck this summer.
"And that's fine if you don't want to do that, just don't show anymore Kevin Hart movies.
"Hear me out.,,I want to bring back our girls and give back Kevin Hart."
Now, come on, Amy...nobody likes a spoiled sport.
