While some folks may not have taken Kanye West's announcement the he plans to run for President at the MTV Video Music Awards the other weekend very seriously, the 2016 Republican frontrunner is talking about Yeezus as though he may be a serious contender for the White House that year. According to the latest gossip news updates, Donald Trump actually had nothing but nice things to say about the hip-hop genius, before joking that he will take it all back when they wind up going to head to head over his reelection. Meanwhile, even Taylor Swift has suggested that she might be ready to be Kanye's Vice President in the next election cycle if Mr. Kim Kardashian is still interested.
When Kanye West took the stage to accept his MTV Video Vanguard award a couple weeks ago his speech meandered all over the place, before landing on his ground breaking revelation that he would be running for President in 2020:
"This is a new mentality. We're not going to control out kids with brands. We're not going to teach low self-esteem and hate to our kids.
"We are going to teach our kids that they can be something. We are going to teach our kids that they can stand up for themselves. We are going to teach our kids to believe in themselves.
"It ain't about me. It's about ideas -- people who believe in truth. I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
Upon hearing the news that Kanye had Presidential ambitions, plenty of folks in the political sphere looked to openly mocking the hip-hop superstar, like White House press secretary, Josh Earnest, in the September 21, issue of In Touch:
"I look forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat."
Showing a bit more class than the American people are used to seeing from him, Donald Trump had almost nothing but nice things to say about Kanye and his potential Presidential bid during his recent chat with Jimmy Fallon (via Entertainment Tonight):
"Kanye has been so nice to me. He always says great things to me, so I love Kanye. I love people who are nice to me.
"Kanye is actually, I know him a little bit, he's actually a much nicer person than people think. Now if he happens to run for office, and I'm running against him, I'm gonna take that back."
And while Trump joked that he would be willing to have Kanye come aboard as his Vice President this year, Taylor Swift announced via Instagram that she has no problem serving has West's running mate when the time finally comes:
If Donald Trump can be considered as a serious candidate to one day be the leader of the Free World, than why not Kanye?
