Earlier this year former Commodore Lionel Richie made it clear that his daughter, Nicole, couldn't care less what the tabloids make up about her -- which is good because they are coming at her from all sides this week. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Candidly Nicole reality star has been losing tons of weight in protest of both Joel Madden's trying to pressure her to have more kids and his reportedly getting inappropriately flirty with fellow Voice Australia cast member Jesse J while away from home. In a related story, Richie's famous dad has finally spoken out for the first time about what it was like to adopt her.
Although Nicole Richie has made it plain in the past that she really doesn't want to have any more children, it's rumored that her husband, Joel Madden, is having a hard time taking no for an answer.
A family insider recently told Dish Nation that Joel has always wanted a big family and has been trying to get Nicole on board for having another baby whenever possible (via KPopStarz):
"Joel and his twin brother Benji come from a large family with four kids.
"Joel is adamant about adding to their family and insists they can well afford nannies and housekeepers, but Nic isn't buying his sales pitch."
Of course, the rumors that Joel has been all but cheating with Voice costar Jesse J while filming down under could have Nicole understandably weary.
One source in the latest September 21, issue of Life & Style magazine claims that Richie has been so upset by the news that she appears to be going on a hunger strike:
"The rumors pushed her over the edge.
"She's lost even more weight lately and she looks extremely frail."
While Lionel Richie once revealed that his daughter couldn't care less about what the media says about her or her husband, the R&B icon has been surprisingly silent about his adopting Nicole nearly three-decades ago.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, however, the 66-year-old father of three talked for the first time ever about how Nicole came into his life (via Yahoo! News):
"I went to a Prince concert and there on the stage in the middle of the concert was this four-year-old kid playing the tambourine...So I went backstage and I knew the mother and I knew the father and, of course, they were having difficulties with their relationship.
"I said, 'While you are having the difficulty the kid is sitting out here in limbo so I'll tell you what I'll do, just put the kid in my house until the tour is over with and then we will sort this out later'...And so it took about maybe a year for me to just fall in love and she was a little button -- and of course by that time I was Dad."
What do you think about the tabloid media's constant assault on Nicole Richie and her marriage to Joel Madden?
Is it fine just as long as Nicole and Joel don't seem to let it bother them?
Or, is it high past time gossip magazines found someone new to pick on?
