The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are set to face off on Sunday night, but what are the top five predictions for the game heading into Week 1?
Both of these teams are looking to start the season off strong, but it makes it even more entertaining that they are bitter division rivals. Tony Romo and the Cowboys were one of the top teams in the NFL last season, while the Giants had a rough season and struggled quite a bit. New York definitely should be better this season than last and the Cowboys could very well take a step backwards after losing star running back DeMarco Murray.
It promises to be a very good edition of Sunday Night Football and should be a fairly close game. Neither team looks too much more talented than the other, although Dallas likely has more talent on paper.
Expect to see both teams battle a little bit harder than normal because of the bitter rivalry between them. This game means just a bit more twice each season than the rest of them.
That being said, let's take a look at the top five predictions heading into Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season.
1. Dez Bryant Records at Least 125 Receiving Yards and Two TD's
Dez Bryant is quite possible the best wide receiver in the NFL and Tony Romo is going to do everything in his power to get him the football. There is no other member of the Cowboys' offense that can dominate quite like Bryant and even fewer who create mismatches. Bryant is going to be the Dallas offensive game plan and it won't be easy for the Giants to slow him down.
2. Odell Beckham Jr. Mirrors Dez Bryant's Predicted Production
Feeding off of the first bold prediction, the Giants have their own star wide receiver who is going to be their primary offensive game plan. Odell Beckham Jr. came on strong at the end of last season as one of the league's top wide receivers and is expected to have a huge season in 2015. Eli Manning has excellent chemistry with Beckham and the Giants are going to do everything in their power to get the football into his hands.
3. Dallas Cannot Replace DeMarco Murray's Production
Losing DeMarco Murray this past offseason was a crushing blow to the Super Bowl hopes that the Cowboys had coming off of last season's impressive play. He was the heart and soul of their offense and helped take a lot of pressure off of Romo and the aerial attack. Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Christine Michael simply won't be able to figure out how to replace his production in Week 1.
4. Giants Defense Forces At Least Three Turnovers
Turnovers are one of the biggest keys in a football game at any level and the Giants' defense is ready to disrupt the Dallas offense and force them. New York will end up forcing at least three turnovers on Sunday night. It is a very bold prediction, but Romo has been known to make mistakes throughout his career and the unproven trio of running backs have the potential to cough a fumble or two up throughout the game.
5. The Giants Pull Off a Huge Victory on the Road
Heading into Dallas and winning is not an easy task, but the Giants are going to be able to do just that this week. New York is the underdog, which is exactly where they want to be this week. Eli Manning and company will head down to Texas and pull out a very tough victory over their rivals and start the season off right.
