Could Lena Dunham be taking tips from Kanye West for 2020? With West recently announcing that he is running for president, could the writer, director and star of HBO show Girls, Lena Dunham, be looking to follow in his footsteps? Her BFF Jenni Konner certainly seems to think it is a good idea. Konner recently took to Instagram and posted a black-and-white image of Dunham posing alongside a Hillary Clinton poster. She captioned the shot "Possible future ticket? #hillary2016." Does this mean Dunham wants to be Clinton's running mate and possible vice president?
If Dunham did decide to add politics to her already bustling resume, it would be safe to assume (like Konner) that she would be more likely to join the ticket of presidential hopeful Hilary Clinton. This would make sense as Dunham is already a vocal supporter of Clinton and her would-be administration (via People). Not only does Dunham show a ton of love for Clinton's positions on political issues, but she has also visited her Brooklyn headquarters.
This isn't the first brush with the presidency that Dunham has had. The Huffington Post reported that the First Daughter Malia Obama scored an internship this summer with the Girls star working behind the camera on the popular HBO show. There is no news as yet on whether the first daughter will actually cameo in the upcoming fifth season, which is set to premiere January 2016.
Dunham is not one to shy away from politics and has recently started, alongside Jenni Konner, Lenny Letter, a weekly newsletter that covers "Feminism, style, health, politics, friendship and everything else." The body positive star who is seen as a role model by many has her finger in a lot of pies, but the question remains, would she make a good vice president if she did indeed decide to run?
Is this the beginning of a new celebrity trend? Will we one day have a President Kanye and First Lady Kim Kardashian along with Vice President Lena Dunham? If so, what would that mean for America?
