Maddie Ziegler Cast in New Sia Movie after ‘Chandelier’ Music Video: Quitting ‘Dance Moms?'

Sia and Maddie Ziegler are both stars in their own right, but there is no denying that when the two get together, they truly shine. This is proven by their three music video collaborations for the songs, “Chandelier,” “ Elastic Heart,” and “Big Girls Cry.” Now, the dynamite duo are working on a new project together. Sia has written and will direct a new feature film called Sister, which will star Maddie. This announcement comes shortly after Ziegler announced that she wants to do more acting, leading many to believe that she was planning to quit Dance Moms befor Season 6.

Sia recently told reporters at the international film festival, Venice Days, about the new project, telling the publication about how she decided to tackle the project (via Dazed):

"I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project because I was a singer... And then last year, after I made the 'Chandelier' video, I realized that I was pretty good at directing, so I felt a little bit braver."

Sia went on to discuss the process she went through writing the film:

“First, I paid a guy from a juice bar to help me write it, who had gone to film school, and it turned out it wasn’t quite right. He and I spent three and a half weeks just on the sofa, mapping it out.For me, the process was basically, I work out the movie. I’ll act it out, I’ll have the dialogue already in my head. I can’t be bothered to learn ‘Final Draft’. I’m not a technical person. Like, when I sing, I just want to sing the melody and write the lyrics. I don’t want to have to do production, which is very technical. I don’t enjoy that. What I do enjoy is the creative process,"

It is unclear if Maddie Ziegler will be returning to Dance Moms for Season 6. The starlet herself has not commented on the issue earlier in the year, telling MTV Australia:

"We just finished season five and I’m not sure what’s going to happen for season six. I don’t know if I’m going to do it or not, so it just depends."

Maddie also expressed an interest in doing more acting, adding:

"I particularly want more acting. I’ve been auditioning a lot and I definitely want to act. My favourite TV show is ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and I actually made a guest appearance on it. I didn’t really have lines for my character but I definitely want to get more into those kinds of shows. It was the best week of my life because it’s my favourite TV show, so I got to hang out with one of the girls, and I got to meet all the other ones. It was just really fun and I got to see the whole set and it was just so fun."
