Salman Khan Brand Keeps Actor in Public Eye Despite Many Controversies

Don't ever make the mistake of thinking Salman Khan is stupid. Sure, he may sometimes act as dumb as a brick. However, step back and take a look at the man as a whole. He is an actor wealthy nearly beyond belief and hugely popular as well. Why? He is visible and puts himself out in the public eye. He, or whomever it is who makes the decisions, has carefully cultivated a brand image that is so strong and durable that it has weathered several very serious controversies to keep him popular.

An article on The National.ae explored this very issue. Sanjay Chakraborty, a marketing communication adviser based in Ahmedabad offered up his analysis, "Like a brand, he is consistently visible," he says. "He is consistently performing in the same manner. He has a personality. He's a macho guy and he's popular and does things which connect with the audience." He goes on to point out, "He is making sure that his brand is being managed properly. The moment he had problems, he came out with his philanthropical effort, Being Human."

This fascinating article sheds a whole new light on a truly complex individual. Very much a populist, despite the fact he is Bollywood royalty, Khan chooses mass entertainment films as opposed to esoteric art pieces. To him, movies are entertainment and he has crafted a very particular style of cinema that is purely Salman Khan.

It has been successful as well. One need only look at his newest film Bajrangi Bhaijaan and the runaway success it has been. Emirates 247 gave this opinion, "If his film outings in the last few years are anything to go by, what you seen on screen is ultimately the Salman Khan brand that has perhaps even overshadowed the actor that lies beneath." So with his latest, sure to become an Eid blockbuster, it is a refreshing change to see Salman the actor outshines the muscle and the brawn that have become his signature trademarks.

Clearly, Khan has a lot on the ball and is a very charismatic individual. The only thing standing in his way is those moments when he isn't being smart. Those tend to reverberate for quite a long time.
