While many of Gwen Stefani's fans are shocked at the news that her divorce to longtime husband, Gavin Rossdale, his former gay lover, Marilyn Robison points out that their Hollywood marriage lasted longer than most. According to the latest gossip news update, the British popstar the No Doubt singer always seemed to have it out for him, but his past with Rossdale had nothing to do with their breakup. In a related story, the Voice coach is said to be weary of splitting up her reported $120 million net worth to the Bush frontman -- instead supposedly offering him a no strings attached pay off if he agrees to go quietly.
He knows that is would make for one hell of a story, but Gavin Rossdale's former boyfriend, Marilyn Robinson swears he was in no way to blame for the dissolution of his marriage to Gwen Stefani.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marilyn noted that from day one is seemed that Gwen had a problem with him, but their relationship had nothing to do with Stefani's filing for divorce:
"I'm getting kind of the gist that people want me to be somehow to blame for the marriage split and that's just not true.
"It was just a weird atmosphere...[at their wedding] he only person I didn't talk to was Gwen and every time I looked around she was looking at me.
"I do kind of regret not breaking away from what was going on around me and [speaking] to her."
Although Robinson admits that he is no more privy to what exactly caused the couple to fall apart than the rest of us, he cautions against jumping to any conclusion about the rumors Gavin was cheating with the nanny:
"What goes on in their house and in their marriage is between them.
"At the end of the day it's speculation."
The source that Radar Online spoke to claims that whatever went on in their house, Gwen now feels that it would be wrong to have to give half of all the money she's earned to Rossdale.
According to the insider, Stefani is pushing to make a deal with Gavin for a sum that she feels would be more appropriate given all the pain and suffering he's caused her over the years:
"Gwen has really struggled with the idea of just handing over half of her hard-earned money to Gavin, and there is a lot of anger there.
"Gwen is hoping to just pay Gavin off because she doesn't want to pay him any type of support. Gwen's approach is that she should get to keep what is hers."
The informant insists, however, that Rossdale isn't going for the onetime payday and plans to fight it out for a bigger piece of the pie in court:
"His lawyer, Laura Wasser is going to go after as much money she can get out of Gwen. It has gotten very contentious, very fast between the two.""
