Zooey Deschanel is officially a mother. The New Girl star and her husband, Jacob Pechenik welcomed their very first child together earlier this week. That is right, we said husband. In addition to bringing life into this world Deschanel also got married. This is Deschanel’s second marriage. In 2009 Zooey got married to Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie rocker Ben Gibbard, before getting divorced in 2012.
Lauren Auslander, a rep for Zooey Deschanel recently spoke to USA Today, confirming the birth of new baby girl as well as her recent wedding to Jacob Pechenik:
"I am thrilled to confirm that Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik are new parents to a beautiful healthy baby girl."
These changes in Zooey’s life help symbolizes a turning point for the actress as she's looking to change her image. Earlier in the year Deschanel spoke to The Huffington Post about how she is not really all that “adorkable”:
"I don’t always identify, perhaps, with the way that I’m portrayed in certain public contexts. I try to stay away from that sort of thing. That was something that was calculated, you know what I mean? That was our marketing department at Fox and they did a really good job with our first season, but that's a word that describes the character that I play, not me. I don’t personally have identification with that word myself."
