There are some major shakeups happening at MSNBC. The struggling networking is losing some of it’s left leaning programing, in order to focus on Breaking News. MSNBC has been getting crushed by Fox and CNN, with few exceptions. Now the network is “separating the wheat from the chaff,” if you will, in an effort to keep up. The network has canceled The Cycle, Now with Alex Wagner and The Ed Show. Chuck Todd is taking over the five o’clock hour and Rachel Maddow is still safe at nine (eastern). The shift is an attempt by the network to focus more on breaking news and possibly making way for Brian Williams to step behind the desk.
According to Huffington Post, MSNBC has canceled three of it’s more left leaning daytime shows. The Cycle wth host Krystal Ball, Ari Melber, Touré, and Abby Huntsman. Now with Alex Wagner and The Ed Show, are all getting the axe.
Ed Show host Ed Schultz has released a video statement addressing the exit with grace and dignity. Check out Ed’s video below to hear what he had to say.
MSNBC’s White House correspondent Chuck Todd will be taking over the 5:00 p.m. eastern time slot.
