Even though they didn't even come close to killing off his character in Fast and Furious 7, word has it the Paul Walker will not be a part of Fast 8 . According to the latest gossip news updates, despite executive producer Vin Diesel already dedicating the film to him, Walker's Brian O'Conner character won't be CGI'd into the cast this go around. Jason Statham reports that regardless of the shift in casting, the powers that be already have several plot-points all sketched out for the highly anticipated sequel.
Although they still have his character in their back pocket in case they ever need to bring him out of official retirement, Paul Walker is in no way going to be involved in Universal's Fast 8 says one of the franchise's longtime producers, Neal H Moritz.
During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Moritz explains that the powers that be have decided to let Paul Walker's character enjoy his retirement, instead of resurrecting the actor every time they make another Fast film (via IBTimes):
"His [Paul] character...has moved on. But we feel like there's a lot still to be mined.
"That's where we're starting. We're really talking about the characters, where they all sit right now. It's a huge challenge.
"Paul Walker] brought something very unique and very special to the franchise, but we've always tried to up the ante both with the casting and what the movies are about."
While Moritz insists that the writers are still trying to figure out exactly what kind of movie everyone wants Fast 8 to be, franchise baddie, Jason Statham, revealed that at least one or two major plot turns have already been flushed out.
The former Transporter star wasn't willing to give away anything too specific to the Daily Mail, but Statham explained that the new movie was set to be every bit as over-the-top as it's predecessors:
"They've always got something good up their sleeve, and I don't want to be the one who spoils everything, giving away plotlines and stuff like that.
"But there is some great stuff that I already know about."
Paul Walker, who died in a traffic accident in November of 2013, may not be a part of the new movie, but Vin Diesel told MTV News, that without his former costar there would be no Fast 8 (via Enstarz):
"Paul used to say that 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass.
"So, if fate has it -- fate, F8 -- then you'll get it. Furious 7 was for Paul; 8 is from Paul.'"
What do you think about Paul Walker not being in the new movie?
Does it just make sense for Universal to finally let their late, great Fast and Furious star rest in peace?
Or does the franchise owe it to Walker to make sure that Brian O'Conner appears in Fast films for the next thousand years?
