Scientologist Tom Cruise Quits Scientology for Daughter Suri After Katie Holmes Divorce?

It's a new week, and that can mean only one thing -- more tabloid rumors about Scientologist Tom Cruise. According to a laughable new report, Tom Cruise is considering quitting Scientology so that he can allegedly repair his relationship with daughter Suri Cruise. This latest report follows Tom's high-profile divorce from Suri's mom, Katie Holmes. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time the tabloids have got things wrong about Scientology's leading spokesperson.

The tabloids long-running beef with Tom Cruise continued this week, as Star magazine claimed that the once A-list actor is preparing to walk away from the religion he has called home for decades.

According to the hilarious report, Tom just wants to spend more time with his daughter Suri. But, one "source" (who they obviously couldn't name, because they don't exist) claims that the Church of Scientology doesn't want Tom to spend any time with Suri, because she is not being raised in the church (via Gawker):

"[Suri] was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That's when Tom realized he's never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up...It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it...Tom has been under tremendous pressure where Suri and Katie are concerned because the church doesn't want him close to them. They can't stand that their own poster boy isn't raising his child in the church."

Of course, this isn't the first time that the tabloids have gotten it wrong about Tom.

Last year, the actor settled a $50 million dollar defamation lawsuit with Bauer Publishing, who own Life & Style and In Touch.

The article claimed that Tom abandoned Suri over Scientology, but later had to retract their claims due to the settlement.

Lindsay Ferraro, public relations director for both Life & Style and In Touch, issued the following statement about the ruling. Turns out the magazines never meant to imply that Tom had abandoned his daughter (via CNN):

"The terms of the settlement were not disclosed and remain confidential...Neither Bauer Publishing nor the magazines intended to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter, Suri, and regret if anyone drew that inference from anything they published."

What do you think of the latest reports? Is Tom Cruise really leaving Scientology? Do you believe anything the tabloids say at this point?
