Trying to keep her health issues under the rug, folk singer Joni Mitchell was found unconscious and unresponsive in her home last April. While Mitchell's conservator, Leslie Morris, said all was fine, it has been reported that the musician actually suffered an aneurysm.
Early on it was suggested that she was in a coma, but a later report claimed that Mitchell was "alert" and had "her full senses." However, that's been cited as an inaccuracy.
Mitchell has been recovering at her home, with Morris stating that the singer-songwriter is speaking fine and will start to walk soon.
Claiming she is "getting better" with each passing day, Morris posted a statement:
"Joni did in fact suffer an aneurysm. However, details that have emerged in the past few days are mostly speculative. The truth is that Joni is speaking, and she's speaking well. She is not walking yet, but she will be in the near future as she is undergoing daily therapies. She is resting comfortably in her own home and she's getting better each day. A full recovery is expected."
David Crosby, however, refuted the claim and said in an interview at the Huffington Post that "to my knowledge, she is not speaking yet ... How much she's going to come back and when, I don't know and I'm not going to guess."
Crosby dated Mitchell in the 1960s but also noted that he hasn't spoken to her personally.
The legendary Canadian singer-songwriter, 71, is best known for hits like "Woodstock," "Both Sides, Now" and "Big Yellow Taxi." She also recently had a fashion moment with the ever-famous Saint Laurent.
Our best wishes to Ms. Mitchell, as we hope she recovers soon.
Keep her in your thoughts below with "Big Yellow Taxi" in the meantime.
