It hasn't been officially confirmed yet but it looks like there is definitely going to be a sequel to Pitch Perfect 2, but the real question is who is going to be in it. According to the latest gossip news updates, Elizabeth Banks is already talking about possibly directing the Pitch 3, but Anna Kendrick seems to be far more reluctant to sign on to another film in the franchise. While it's been semi-confirmed through Twitter that Rebel Wilson is happy to return, word has it that it will be for quite a bit more than the $2 million she received for the last movie.
Pitch Perfect 2 has hardly left the theaters, but it's already being rumored that Universal and Gold Cannon are moving ahead on the sequel.
In an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this month, Elizabeth Director explained that she is definitely in talks about making Pitch 3, but nothing is quite set in stone just yet:
"We're thinking about it, we're thinking about it very seriously.
"We would love to spend more time with these characters that everyone's fallen so hard in love with.
"Of course we're at the very beginning of that process."
According to Independent Spirit Award nominated movie producer, Amy Kaufman's Twitter account she knows for a fact that Rebel Wilson will be returning to reprise her role as Fat Amy:
In fact, when asked by the Time about possibly returning for at least one more Perfect sequel, Kendrick explained that she's tries her best not to get too ahead of herself when it comes to that sort of thing:
"I'm not one to count my chickens, so I just want to see how this one does and find out if there's an appetite for that before I even think about it.
"I'll drive myself crazy."
From the way everything looks, explains The Hollywood Reporter, Universal and Gold Canyon will wind up making there trilogy no matter what, but the question of whether or not they will even be able to afford Anna Kendrick this time around has yet to be determined:
"Deals for a third movie will be costly because options aren't in place for the pair.
"In contrast...Universal and Gold Circle were smelling a franchise when they made sure to lock in series newcomer Hailee Steinfeld for a follow-up."
After making hundreds of millions of dollars on a paltry $29 million investment, it seems like the powers that be are dead-set on making at least one more Pitch Perfect, but casting Rebel Wilson without Anna Kendrick is like having Luke without Leah.
