It might seem hard to believe, but Modern Family sex-symbol Sofia Vergara insists that she's just not that into looks. According to the latest gossip news updates, the 42-year-old Columbian bombshell claims that it's her knack for not caring if she looks "ugly" that allows her to be so funny and effective on the hit TV show. In fact, Joe Mangainello's girlfriend insist that looks rank so low on her list, that she almost passed her fiancé over as a suitable suitor because he was just too good looking to possibly be low maintenance.
Last year Forbes magazine named Sofia Vergara not only the highest paid female actress on television but the highest paid actor on TV period.
Although much of her growing net worth comes from everything from super-lucrative endorsement deals to her own fragrance available on the Home Shopping Network, none of that would have been possible without her highly acclaimed role on Modern Family.
In a recent interview with News Australia, Sofia explained that the real reason that her comedy was so successful had to do with growing up in a funny family and her ability to commit to the bit -- no matter what:
"Well, my real family is very funny. I never thought I was going to make a living out of it or act, or anything, but it's natural for me.
"We always like having a lot of fun. I don't care about looking ugly or looking ridiculous. I'm not afraid of that, and I think that helps a lot when you're doing comedy."
That being said, sometimes Sofia supposedly has to have a little help getting the joke before she can fully commit.
One onset source told the National Enquirer that shooting virtually came to a stop the other day, when Ed O'Neill and Sofia caught a case of the giggles following a misunderstanding centering on Gloria's thong:
"After Sofia's character, Gloria, went shopping at expensive stores, hubby Jay, played by Ed O'Neill, rummaged through her bags, found a skimpy pink thong...with 'Butt Floss' written on it.
"The joke was lost in translation for Sofia until Ed explained, 'it's like, ya know, tooth floss -- but for your Butt!'
"Even after Sofia got it, she and Ed kept cracking up at the joke, ruining take after take!"
It might be hard to tell by her current fiancé, but Sofia insists that she usually likes to balance out the humor in her life with a man whose looks are serious enough to drive the other ladies away.
Sofia reveled in her News interview that she almost passed on her chance to even meet boyfriend, Joe Manganiello, because she figured than any man that looked that good had to be nothing but trouble:
"I still think he's too handsome to date! So, at the beginning, I didn't want that.
"I thought it was going to be too much. I didn't want to be pushing women out of the way.
"I wanted something more peaceful. But then I met him and I learnt how he really was."
Thank god most men don't share those same qualms or Sofia might have never known love.
