Recently, Michael B Jordan penned an essay for Entertainment Weekly, where he spoke openly about the backlash he has faced for being cast as The Human Torch Johnny Storm in Fox’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Now Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek 3 star Zoe Saldana has come out in support of Jordan, pointing to all the times that white actors have played black characters.
Zoe Saldana recently took to Facebook to defend Michael B Jordan’s essay as well as point out Hollywood’s hypocrisy when it comes to race:
“Bravo!!! Inspired by Michael's essay. Thank you for speaking up. If we question why Michael has been cast to play the Human Torch in Fantastic Four then we must also question why Elizabeth Taylor played Cleopatra, why Angelina Jolie played Mariane Pearl in a Mighty Heart, why Laurence Olivier played Othello, Burt Lancaster in Apache, and the list goes on....and on.... And on... Let's not throw rocks when we all live in glass houses.”
