With positive reviews on the board for NBC's latest, Aquarius, starring the Golden Globe-winner David Duchovny, the network is also in an uproar over the premiere of Game of Thrones: The Musical. The 12-minute video has been a smash ever since. In the form of a mockumentary, the clip takes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a musical, which is narrated by Liam Neeson and follows Coldplay's Chris Martin. Also in the video are notable GoT personalities, including the lovable John Snow.
Although there is a lot of enthusiasm on the table, sadly, some of the other members aren't so keen on taking the idea to stage. One such person is Emilia Clarke, who plays the heralded heroine Daenerys Targaryen. The actress calls the musical a "Titanic," as in an "unsuccessful boat."
Kip Harington, who plays Snow, is attractive enough to rally some support as front man of the house band, who sways the adoration of Rose Leslie (who plays Ygritte and much like the love story on the show) with a Thrones-remix of the Kinks' "Wildthing" as "Wildling."
Per Paste Magazine, the repertoire includes "Closer to Home," a solo by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) that is billed as "the first romantic ballad about incest in Coldplay's career," "Rastafarian Targaryen," sung by Clarke, the inappropriately upbeat "Red Wedding" and the previously released "A Man For All Seasons (Still Goin' Strong)" with Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) singing about all the character deaths.
The musical is part of NBC's Red Nose Day, which is a celebrity fundraiser that benefits children in poverty. A telethon aired on NBC and came to the U.S. for it's inaugural year after finding much success in the U.K. over the last 30 years.
