‘Fast & Furious 8’ News: Jason Stratham & Melissa McCarthy Join Vin Diesel Cast

Despite the fact the billion dollar money maker Fast and Furious 7 is most likely still playing in a theater near you, executive producer and lead lug head, Vin Diesel has already announced that the new Fast 8 movie will be set in New York City on Instagram. According to the latest gossip news updates, in addition to returning himself, Jason Statham has joked about his Spy co-star Melisa McCarthy also joining the cast. Fellow franchise regular, Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson took the joke a step further --claiming that he had no doubt that The Heat comedienne could even take Vin in a fist fight, no problem.

One man Fast and Furious promotion machine, Vin Diesel, just can't help himself; now that the seventh film is doing better than even anyone at Universal could have imagined, the Riddick star has already started talking about the next movie, Fast 8.

Just this week, Vin seemed to cryptically announce through Instagram that not only would the next film be ready by this same time in 2017, New York City is set to play a prominent role in the project:

For his part, Jason Stratham has already signed on board to reprise his role as supervillain, Decard Shaw -- telling the Den of Geek journalists that for the time being his entire schedule is going to revolve around the eventual production of Fast 8:

"It depends what Universal are doing and when they want to go.

"There's Fast 8...they want to do another one."

While Statham was recently promoting his new movie, Spy, with co-star Melissa McCarthy, the subject of the Bridesmaids actress joining Fast 8 came up, much to the delight of The Rock.

Dwayne Johnson, who fought Vin Diesel's character in Fast 8, claimed the he knew from firsthand experience with Vin that McCarthy would be able to mop the floor with the action star if came to fisticuffs (via HollywoodLife):

"She could kick Vin's ass for sure! I mean that goes without saying.

"Vin's tough though! I've fought him -- but Melissa's tough too.

"Never fought her, but we have common friends so I know how tough she is so yeah she could kick Vin Diesel's ass for sure."

That being said, if McCarthy stepped too far out of line, the WWE superstar predicted he would probably be able to get in there and keep the rest of the crew safe:

"Kick my ass? Well that's a whole other level of conversation we got to have."

Let's just see how the new Ghostbusters goes first, before we just start adding brand new members to La Familia all willy-nilly.
