After more than a year of not knowing if the franchise could survive the untimely death of Paul Walker, whose autopsy later revealed was still alive immediately after the terrible car crash, the Furious 7 cast seems more than ready to go ahead and make the next Fast 8 film -- already announcing an April 14, 2017 release date. According to latest gossip news updates, WWE wrestler turned actor, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel have already discussed making the next instalment better than it's billion dollar predecessor in every way. Jordana Brewster, who played Walker's wife in the series, has also confirmed that she is all set to return to for another picture but will miss the calming affect Paul had on the Fast family while making the films in the future.
Despite the fact that Furious 7 hasn't even left most major theaters around the country yet, executive producer, Vin Diesel has already announced that a Fast 8 sequel has been green-lit.
The Scorpion King, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wouldn't deny or confirm to MTV News the rumors that the new movie would be set in New York, but did promise that he and Vin were already trying to hammer out the finer plot points -- finding time whenever they can here and there to put there enormous bald heads together:
"You know Furious 7...the success of it is just bananas!
"And I talked to Vin today -- we had a nice discussion.
"Whatever it is, whatever we come up with Furious 8...I think that we got to raise the bar.
"In terms of action, yes, but [also] I think in terms of story and character."
The film had not even yet come out when Jordana Brewster spoke to HuffPo Live on the April 3, but the actress didn't might assuring everyone that she too would be returning if the fans' response to the picture seemed to warrant a sequel -- which it evidently has (via IBTimesUK):
"I don't know [if I'd do another film], but it's always dependent on the fans.
"If they want one and if there's an appetite for it.
"We never want to jump the shark!"
Although it looks like Brewster will definitely be reprising her role in Fast 8, she insisted that things would never be the same on a Fast and Furious sets without Paul there to making sure no one got a big head working on the highly successful franchise:
"We had a long break [after Paul's death], and none of us knew if we were coming back, period.
"Paul kept us all very calm, down-to-earth and mellow.
"He didn't care about Hollywood at all."
At least, his character will continue to live on in the Fast and Furious films -- both old and new -- forever.
