You think you've heard it all. Then, something new comes along and makes you realize you haven't. In a rivalry to rival Tupac Shakur and Biggie Small, the fans of K-Pop titans Big Bang and BTS(Bangtan Boys) are at war with each other. The latest conflict to hit Korea involves fans of BTS (Bangtan Boys) and Big Bang. We've got all the details for this latest feud.
It all began with the April 29th release of BTS' new album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1. On May 3, as the album continued to sell, whispers of chart fixing came out of the shadows and started to be wondered aloud. Most felt BTS was not popular enough to sell 49,000 units in that short of a time.
Bloggers accused BTS' management of a practice known as sajaegi, which involves the mass purchasing of physical discs to boost sales. Other bands have been accused of doing it. It is commonly directed at mid-level entertainment companies.
BTS rose above it, but the critical axe was about to come down on them again. During a May 5th episode of M! Countdown, V sang along to Big Bang's "Loser" and upset a lot of people.
V apologized for his rendition but added, "I love them. They are so cool." Whether the collective Big Bang fan base had woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning is unclear because he only pissed everyone off further.
Fans of Big Bang felt that V was mocking the band by singing "Loser." One comment noted, "Don't artists usually sing their own songs when they place fist? No matter how much he respects Big Bang, why is he singing 'Loser' when he is accepting the trophy??"
Now, you know. K-Pop can be as dangerous and cutthroat as rap. Hum along to your favorite tune but take care.
