Big Bang May Be K-Pop’s Most Popular Boy Band, Record Label CEO Says "They Are Men"

Despite being one of the most popular boy bands in K-Pop, Yang Hyun Suk the CEO of YG Entertainment, the band's record company, defended the band against the criticisms leveled at them for "Bae Bae," their new single. The video for their single was slapped with an R-19 rating, meaning no one under the age of 19 can view the video.

"The directors and band members produced something that [they felt] expressed themselves the best. And the outcome happens to be classified as R-19...we did not produce this just to make the music video provocative and lascivious. It is futuristic and four-dimensional clip and it is filled with freedom."

Produced by frontman G-Dragon and in house producer Teddy, the video, released in conjunction with their first single "Loser," the video featured the band in provocative situations with different women. Yang elaborated about the record label's unique approach to marketing the band's new album:

"This will mark the beginning of 'M,' which is the first of the Made series. Every month, Big Bang will be releasing a single album featuring more than one song for four months until August. In September, the complete Made album will be unveiled."

The reason behind this, explained Yang, is so that each track on the upcoming album would get attention. It is a unique approach, he admits, but feels it will pay off in the long run.

Big Bang will hit the road to support the album. A 15 country, 70 performance worldwide tour is planned that will see them wind their way through Asian and then hop to the Americas. Along the way,the boys plan to meet as many of the expected 1.4 million fans as time will allow.
