Spoiler Alert: It was recently that the all new “Female” Thor was none other than Odinson’s former love interest Jane Foster, and Twitter couldn’t be more ehhh about it. Now, fans are wondering if Natalie Portman will take over the role Thor, in the next film, Thor 3: Ragnarok.
The identity of the new Thor has been revealed to be Jane Foster. Foster has been struggling with breast cancer in the comics and looks like the power of Thor is not helping her any, as she states in the comics, "I am Dr. Jane Foster. And I will not stop being the mighty Thor. Even though it is killing me."
True Believers of course remember that Jane Foster once held Mjolnir as Thordis as part of a What If storyline.
Chris Hemsworth is only contracted for six movies, making the upcoming Thor 3: Ragnarok his fifth. Could we see Natalie Portman take over the role at the end of Ragnarok, leaving Hemsworth open to return in Avengers: Infinity War?
It was widely rumored that Natalie Portman didn’t want to return for Thor 2. However, she denied these rumors when she spoke with Marie Claire back in 2013, doting on her co-star:
“No. Chris [ Hemsworth] is, like, one of the greatest people in Hollywood. He’s the kind of actor who’s so charismatic, he must be tired when he goes home.”
Portman echoed those comments in an interview with Details Magazine, saying:
"He's like a person you actually want to hang out with...a full human,There's no scoop, except he's rad. The scoop is he's just great at everything. When we were doing the first Thor, we would joke that we should remake The Way We Were. Little Jewish girl, a smoking-hot Gentile. If we work together again, that's clearly our project."
What do you think? Would you like to see Portman take over the role of Thor in the movies? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
