Really Jameis? Crab legs? With endless options of meals to serve at the NFL Draft party of former Heisman Winner Jameis Winston, he made the rookie mistake of choosing the most controversy-stirring dinner of his young career. Winston is no stranger when it comes to seafood. During his time as a student athlete at Florida State University, there was an incident at a Publix where he was caught on camera walking out of the store without paying for some crab legs.
His reasoning for choosing crab legs may be different than you think, with USA Today saying:
"During his introductory news conference at One Buc Place on Friday, Winston explained that he posed with the food to say thank you to Capt. Keith Colburn, star of The Deadliest Catch. Colburn, whom Winston met at a charity event recently, sent 25 pounds of crab legs to the draft party."
The actual mistake of the night was, instead of keeping the feast only known to himself and his guests at the party, he took to his Instagram account and posted a picture of him over the crab leg plate. But once the talk of the draft became more about Winston's new Instagram photo instead of the being the newly drafted Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, he fixed the situation like a seasoned professional.
The quick thinking of Winston was told to the Orlando Sentinel:
"'That's the only reason why I took the picture down,' Winston said. 'I didn't want any negative publicity for this day, because that took it away from this whole organization and my family. I just never would've expected that.'"
Those are the words and actions you want from the number one pick of the NFL draft.
How do you think Winston will fare this year as the Bucs quarterback? Do you feel he has matured enough to be the week one starter? Tell us what you think.
