Perhaps feeling public perception quickly and irrevocably shifting against him, condiment mogul Nick Loeb has desperately released an op-ed in the New York Times arguing that the life of a fertilized embryo is no less sacred than if it were a beautiful little baby growing in its mother's belly. According to the latest gossip news updates, Sofia Vergara's ex-boyfriend wants to raise the children all on his own if the Modern Family actress is unwilling to take responsibly as well, but Joe Manganiello fiancé is none too pleased with the idea of Loeb raising anyone's kids -- let alone her own.
In a story that seems almost too crazy to even be true, Nick Loeb is asking the California courts to go ahead and let him raise his IVF babies without their biological mother's consent.
In an op-ed letter to the New York Times, Nick did his best to explain that that in his mind, Vergara is getting to virtually end the lives of their future children without his permission, which he doesn't feel is very fair:
"When we create embryos for the purpose of like, should we not define them as life, rather than property.
"A women is entitled to bring a pregnant to term even if the man objects.
"Shouldn't a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects?"
While Nick seems to make a few good points in his argument, a source claiming to be close to Sofia insists in the May 4, issue of the National Enquirer he certainly didn't act like a family man during the time he was attached to Vergara:
"Nick two-timed Sofia with strippers and hookers!
"He's the last guy in the world who should be a dad.
"It's outrageous that he wants to do this after they split up."
According to the informant, the very idea of Nick even being left alone with someone's kids should be enough to stop the heart of anyone actually concerned with the welfare of children:
"Nick's pathetic.
"It's laughable that he would even think of raising their babies after what he put Sofia through."
It seems that it might finally be time to have a frank discussion as a country about the legal nature of IVF embryos, but it seems doubtful that Nick Loeb should really be the face of that social struggle.
