While his 30 Seconds to Mars fans might love what Dallas Buyer's Club Oscar winner Jared Leto and Suicide Squad director David Ayer are doing with Batman's most iconic villain, but many of the comic book's fans seem less than stoked at the sight of a tattoo bedazzled Joker. According to the latest gossip news updates, there is even a viral video making the rounds wherein Tim Burton's original bad guy, Jack Nicholson, openly weeps at the sight of high and tight green haircut and Michael Jackson inspired single glove that Leto is sporting in the latest pictures released form the project. While the clip is actually a scene from Jack's 2002 tearjerker, About Schmidt, it very accurately portrays the feelings of many a Batman obsessed fanboy.
Jared Leto sure is going to need some thick skin to play the Joker in David Ayer's new comic book masterpiece, Suicide Squad, because fans of the Dark Knight aren't shy about letting an actor know when they feel they are letting the source material down.
For instance, there is a pretty popular YouTube video currently circulating in which Jack Nicholson appears to have a full-blown emotional breakup upon seeing what Jared Leto plans to do with his old Tim Burton role.
While the clip is actually from a movie Nicholson did way back in 2002, it pretty accurately reflects the fear among internet fanboys that Leto is going to turn the baddest of all baddies into a laughing stock.
Even more interesting than Leto's decision to have the Joker appear as some sort of part-time tattoo artist in his equally puzzling call to make him look like a puffed up gym rat to boot.
After letting it be known that he was bulking up to play the part a couple of months ago, Leto posted his progress to Instagram today iby way of a new upper body selfie:
