Kevin Spacey Launches New ‘Downton Abbey’ Meets ‘House of Cards’ TV Show Spin-Off?

House of Cards acting president, Kevin Spacey, apparently intends to expand his foray in the world of TV politics since his Netflix venture has been arguably his most successful career move to date. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Frank Underwood actor is launching a new Washington, D.C centered TV show based on the successful new book, The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House. Word has it that the series will be a sort of Downton Abby meets the West Wing -- focusing more on the butlers and the maids tworking to keep the old building together than the folks that are supposedly running the country.

If you love Netflix' House of Cards but feel the just aren't enough scenes featuring the White House dinnerware than you are in luck, because Kevin Spacy is going to make that happen.

No, Season 4 isn't announcing that it's going to jump the shark, Politico is just reporting that author of The Residence, Kate Anderson Brower, has signed a production deal with the American Beauty actor:

"[Anderson] just closed a deal with Trigger Street, Kevin Spacey's production company (House of Cards, Captain Phillips, The Social Network), for the film/TV rights to The Residence."

While the book focus mostly on the lives of the first families as told through their house staff of busy little worker bees, the new series will center more on the lives of the folks that originally told those stories:

"The plan for the show is a modern and fictional 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue spin on Downton Abbey, wherein the White House's butlers, stewards, maids and the like are the stars, often more committed to the mansion and upholding its historic traditions than to the family who lives there."

Thankfully, his producing duties shouldn't pull Spacey away from his true calling of acting as leader of the free world.

House of Cards can rest easy the rest of the year knowing that Spacey and the rest of the Netflix cast are busy making Season 4 the most epic year yet:

It's hard to tell if that is good or bad news for real-life President Barack Obama, who seems to be losing himself in the show a little bit too much for comfort.

Spacey shared Obama's not so spot on impression of his Southern brogue on Twitter -- pointing out that Barack had better stick to public speaking after leaving the White House if he plans on making enough money to put those kids through college.

Yikes!
