After being nominated eight different times over the years, Kevin Spacey, is an old pro at navigating the Golden Globes rigmarole, and the Hollywood icon's advice is to drink your way through it. According to the latest gossip news updates, Spacey told Ethan Hawke that you go to "get drunk at the event". Word has it that Kevin was admittedly drinking champagne with House of Cards co-star Kate Mara before the event, which, no doubt, only served to further enrage Andy Cohen. Besides doing his best to out Spacey as gay in his latest book, the Watch What Happens Live! host explained in the tell-all that he despises it when the American Beauty actor actively perpetuates the myth that he is straight.
Despite his portrayal of Frank Underwood as cold and calculating on the Golden Globe nominated Netflix series, House of Cards, Kevin Spacey apparently comes off on the set as a down to earth actor that doesn't take himself too seriously.
During a recent interview with WhoSay, Gerald McRaney, who plays Frank's billionaire archrival on the TV show, revealed that Spacey is really nothing like the ruthless politician from the series:
"He takes the work that he does very seriously...[but] he doesn't take himself all that seriously at all.
"He's a big joker. He's completely different than Frank."
Little wonder then that the SGV Tribune is reporting that Spacey told a hungry Ethen Hake on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier today that you come for the bar not the buffet.
According to the publication when the Boyhood nominee asked about getting some food at the Globes, Kevin informed him he was expected to drink his dinner:
"No, you just get drunk at this event."
The Tribune goes on the reveal the Spacey then admitted that he and Cards co-star Kate Mara had already been drinking on their way to the event -- which is just the type of thing to set Andy Cohen off.
In an expert from the Watch What Happens Live! host's new book in the December 8, issue to In Touch, not only does Cohen insist that Spacey is gay, Andy seems furious that the actor still isn't copping to it publicly:
"[Neil Patrick Harris] and I talked a lot about gay stuff, including debating Kevin Spacey; I still get enraged when I think about him talking about being in love with that woman on 60 Minutes."
Regardless of Kevin Spacey's sexuality or personally policy about addressing it publicly...you would think that House of Cards' opening episode of Season 2 would have convinced Andy to keep his mouth shut.
