Recently, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that the company was working on their new next gen console, known as the NX, stating (via Wired):
“Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business...I wanted to communicate that Nintendo will be progressing with videogame-dedicated devices with a passion. We wanted to make it clear that Nintendo will continue with that as our core business.”
Now Iwata has opened to Japanese publication Nikkei, offering a minor update on the new system (translated by Kotaku, via IGN):
"If you only expand upon existing hardware, it's dull. In some shape or form, we're always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person's video gaming life."
