Almost immediately following their wedding in Venice, Italy late last September the tabloids have been suggesting that George Clooney and new wife Amal Alamuddin will divorce much sooner than later. If the rumor mill isn't citing their conflicting schedules as reason enough for a split, they often turn to claiming that Amal is driving Batman crazy by pushing all his friends away. According to the latest gossip news updates, however, Cindy Crawford's husband and George's longtime bestie, Rande Gerber, as well as Ocean's Eleven co-star Ellen Barkin insist that just isn't the case. Clooney's friends happily report that the London lawyer is an absolute joy to be around.
Looming as large in the public eye as they do -- newlyweds George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin make for large target in the tabloids, who often claim that the couple's relationship is starting to fracture under its own weight.
Back in the January 12, issue of Life & Style Magazine, began the narrative that Amal was tired of all of George's friends and was virtually banning him from spending any time around them:
"Amal doesn't want George to hang out with any female friends without her being there.
"This includes Cindy Crawford and Angelina Jolie -- even though they're married."
"To appease her, George has neglected pals like Richard Kind, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski -- and they all feel snubbed.
"A couple of his closet friend also feel Amal comes off as haughty and talks down to people...They're not warming to her at all."
Maintaining virtually the same story line in the March 12, issue of OK! Magazine, one source singled out Crawford and husband Rande Gerber in particular as being jugded by Alamuddin as not worth her time:
"George wants them to become a happy foursome, but Amal thinks Rande's a frat boy who encourages George to drink, and she hasn't clicked with Cindy at all."
Interestingly, Ocean's Thirteen actress Ellen Barkin, who attended Clooney's 2014 wedding, told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live! that Amal treats George's friend -- both male and female -- with every bit as much respect as she gives her husband (via People):
"She takes great care of him and all his friends."
Likewise, Clooney's longtime best friend and business partner, Rande Gerber, recently explained that it was utter nonsense to continue to imply that Amal had any sort of problem at all with his wife and Fair Game actress, Cindy Crawford (via Daily Mail):
"They are very compatible: both strong, intelligent, committed women."
So, if the Clooney's marriage does fall apart...you can't blame it on the friends.
