In anticipation of the event, E! just released a teaser video for the first episode. According to E! Online, some major changes may be coming to the monarchy:

"Life is full of surprises. Especially when you're a Royal...And in this sneak peek at tonight's premiere episode of The Royals, which is centered around the lives of a fictional, modern-day British monarchy, King Simon (Vincent Regan) makes a shocking confession to his family shortly after receiving devastating news regarding his eldest son Prince Robert's death."

The fanfare surrounding the series has been growing, ever since E! revealed that they were working on a scripted reality show to follow their biggest hit, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Many have speculated about what subjects the show will tackle in their first season. And now, NY Daily News reports that, like the Kardashians, much of the series will focus on sex and partying:

"It's a lavish, sprawling drama about a fictional contemporary British royal family that spends more time on partying, sex and palace intrigue than on improving the lives of orphans, saving the whales or developing water sources for sub-Saharan Africa."
