Chicago Bull Star Derrick Rose Returning Before Season's End

The Chicago Bulls will never be the same after the departure of Michael Jordan. However, athletes like Derrick Rose make that fact an easier pill to swallow. In recent news, Rose said that he feels he will be returning to play before the end of this season. However, a definite date has not been set in stone. Regardless of what Rose decides, it is virtually guaranteed that his fans will stand behind him. Apparently, the people of Chicago recently erected a shrine in Logan Square. Images, like "Pray for Rose" and a set of crutches, stand out the most.

Before his time as a professional, Rose played college ball for the University of Memphis. His outstanding performances earned him a first overall pick by Chicago in the 2008 NFL Draft.

That very same year, he won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. At the age of 22, he was the youngest player to ever accomplish this.

Rose is also a three-time NBA All-Star. In turn, fans were excited to hear reports by Yahoo Sports that stated Rose is expected to return this season:

"Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose said Monday he thinks he will be back this season after last month's knee surgery, but he isn't putting a firm timetable on his return...Meeting with the media for the first time since undergoing surgery Feb. 27 to repair the torn medial meniscus in his right knee, Rose said his return this season is 'the plan, so whenever I feel right, that's when I'm going to step back.'"

In the meantime, Chicago fans have made it their mission to support the star in his absence. According to the Chicago Tribune, they even erected a shrine in his honor:

"Chicagoans are sticking behind Derrick Rose as he recovers from his third serious knee injury in three years and a shrine discovered in the Logan Square area over the weekend is proof of that...The shrine is located under a viaduct on West Fullerton Avenue by the Kennedy Expressway and features a drawing of Rose wearing a crown of thorns and a banner with the words "PRAY-4-ROSE" on it. Because Rose recently had surgery on a torn medial meniscus in his right knee..."
