Gotham is nearing the end of the first amazing season, and all eyes are on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney. Fish is working her way up The Doll Maker’s organization. However, it looks like Fish might not make it out of the season alive. Recently, Jada recently teased Fish’s death when she implied that she will not be returning for Season 2. This after the show faced serious allegations of racism when they painted down a white stunt woman, to play a black actress.
Jada Pinkett Smith recently opened to reports are about weather or not Fish Mooney will die this season (via Comicbook.com):
"Well, it's not quite over yet but we'll see if Fish survives the season. It's a little tense from here on out, that's for sure. It's a little rough on Fish from here on out."
Even if Fish lives, she might not stick around Gotham. Jada Pinkett Smith went to address the issue of her coming back next season:
"I don't think so.I signed for a year and the year's up. BUT! There are some great things coming ahead on Gotham, believe you me."
Last year ,Gotham recently caused a stur when it was was revealedthat a white stunt women, was cast to double for a black actress. The double was “painted down,” a process similar to blackface, where an actor’s skin is painted to match the skin of who they are performing in place of.
Warner Brothers put a stop to the move, releasing a statement to the press:
“A mistake was made this week in casting a stunt woman for a guest star in a particular scene on the show. The situation has been rectified, and we regret the error.”
