Basketball is considered by many to be the most popular collegiate sport. Many times over, academia's top minds have shown that they are much more than mere students. Now, the regular season is reaching its end, and some of the game's most anticipated match-ups loom right around the corner. It goes without saying that the question on everybody's mind is: Will the tyrannical Kentucky Wildcats defend their flawless record against the show-stopping Arkansas Razorbacks? One source recently highlighted the difficulty of such a task.
The University of Kentucky originally adopted their blue and white sports jerseys in 1892. Now, the inhabitants of the southern state proudly bleed these colors openly, and they make sure all of their cowering opponents can see.
The Wildcats are famous for their success, and over the years, they have evolved into college basketball's most winning team. This year, they are at it again.
However, according to Yahoo Sports, their perfect record will soon face one of its biggest threats:
"The most action-packed day of the college basketball regular season could [is approaching]. Arizona visits Utah with first place in the Pac-12 on the line. Northern Iowa and Wichita State square off in a winner-take-all Valley showdown. And unbeaten Kentucky faces maybe its toughest test in SEC play when 18th-ranked Arkansas puts its seven-game win streak on the line...the Razorbacks won seven straight this season and three straight against Kentucky, [so] they'll have the undefeated Wildcats' full attention."
Will Kentucky be able to deliver results with so much pressure on the line? An article by ESPN, outlines why the answer to that question most likely yes:
"Kentucky's 28-game winning streak is the second longest in school history, trailing only a 32-game run that stretched from 1953 to 1955. It's the longest in a single season for the program, topping a 27-game streak during the 1995-96 season...The Wildcats had to work a little for this one, leading just 41-37 with 15:10 remaining. But they responded with an avalanche of points down the stretch... to turn the contest into another convincing blowout."
