Jon Jones Criticized for Hanging With 'Idiots' After Cocaine Scandal and Brother Charity Fight Canceled by Patriots

Jon Jones is the top fighter in the world right now and with that comes an intense amount of scrutiny. In recent news, one of the champ's fellow trainers claimed that even though Jon recently tested positive for cocaine, he does not have an addiction. Although, he did say that Jones does party too much and he negatively influenced by the band of "idiots" he hangs out with. This all took place shortly after the Patriots put a stop to the Jones brother's potential charity bout.

Before his time as a professional, Jon wrestled for Iowa Central Community College. During that time, he won the JUCO national championship. Later, he dropped out of school to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

He made his amateur debut in April of 2008 and he was able to jump to an undefeated 6-0 record within no time. That same year, he signed with the largest fighting promotion on earth, the UFC.

Now, he stands apart from every other fighter in his division. According to MMA Fighting, though, his infamy has led to a reckless lifestyle of partying and bad decisions:

"The beginning of 2015 was bittersweet for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who defended his title against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 only to have it come to light that he tested positive for cocaine in an out-of-competition test. [His training partner said,] it doesn't help that Jones has bad influences around him.

[Saying,] 'No, he doesn't have a problem...he parties. In my opinion, it's definitely not an addict type of thing at all. I think he sometimes finds himself hanging out with idiots.'"

This isn't the only news fighting fans have heard of the controversial champ in recent months. According to a report by Fox Sports, the Patriots put a stop to the brother vs. brother charity fight that was probably going to happen:

"New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones said that he wants to fight his brother...Jon Jones in a one-round match, which would benefit charity...Chandler seems sure he could take down "Bones,"...His team, however, doesn't seem so excited about the prospect of their star pass rusher getting beat up...the Patriots can't stop Chandler from fighting Jon, but if the veteran steps into the ring, the club could find him in violation of his contract."
