Billy Joel Engaged Again; Ex-Wife Christie Brinkley Cries for Daughter Alexa Ray [WEDDING NEWS]

Already having three marriages under his belt, Piano Man, Billy Joel, must figure that the fourth time is the charm. According to the latest gossip news updates, the 80s rocker is engaged yet again -- this time to longtime girlfriend, Alexis Roderick. While Bill's personal life is on an upswing, his daughter, Alexa Ray, is working hard at getting her singing career off the ground. Joel's ex-wife, Christie Brinkley, was on hand for Ray's 2-week residency at the famed Café Carlyle doing her best to hold back the tears.

When Billy Joel first gave his girlfriend Alexis Rodriguez a ring more than two years ago, she may have thought that a proposal was just around the corner, but the iconic musician didn't wind up making the move on his new uptown girl until just a few weeks ago.

A source close to the couple explained in the March 9, issue of Star Magazine, that Billy got to a place where he knew that is was starting to get a little do or die on the marriage front:

"That wasn't an engagement ring -- more like a friendship ring...but he came to realize that he wasn't being fair to Alexis.

"He's happier than ever...[and] he knew he couldn't keep stringing her along forever.

"They're looking forward to a summer wedding."

While her dad has been putting together wedding plans with his bride-to-be, Alexa Ray Joel has been preparing herself for her two-week stint at the well-known Café Carlyle which kicked off Tuesday night.

Supermodel mom Christie Brinkley was on hand at the famous gig to lend the 27-year-old support as well as fight back the waves of tears.

The 61-year-old Vegas Vacation heartbreaker told Page Six that it was all she could do to keep herself together when her little girl takes that stage:

"I had a lump in my throat half the evening. I was fighting, like, 'Don't cry. You have too much makeup on.'"

Alexa Ray told the NY Post that her favorite original song from her set was probably, "Verona", which she wrote for the daughter that she someday hopes to have:

"I actually started writing [the song] before I had a boyfriend and I was single and I was getting that anxiety that I think a lot of girls in their 20s get...not that I want to be pregnant now, but I wanted to find my man and to have that future and have that little girl or child."

If Alexa Ray winds up having boys instead of girls, that song is likely to give them a complex, don't you think?
