Alexa Ray Joel Starts Two Week Residency at Cafe Carlyle in February, Follows Bettye LaVette and Buster Poindexter

Singer-Songwriter Alexa Ray Joel will be returning to Café Carlyle for a two-week engagement, starting at the end of February. Joel's residency follows singer/actor Cheyenne Jackson's Café Carlyle debut, through January 24; iconic soul singer Bettye LaVette's highly anticipated return, Jan. 27-Feb. 7 and rock icon Buster Poindexter's run, Feb.10-Feb.24.

Joel, the daughter of music legend Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley, hasn’t let her star-father outshine her. She has forged her own way in the music world. After her last appearance at Café Carlyle, the New York Times called Joel “A singer following her own heart.” In her newest appearance, Joel will be performing her own original material along with adding her own personal music style to well-known hits. She will also be accompanied by a band which will include Carmine Giglio on piano and Garo Yellin on bass. Joel has sold out both of her previous runs at the Café.

According to a press release, growing up with a music icon as a father gave ger a hands on view of the songwriting process and what it was like to be a musicians. “It’s no wonder I write music in the same way (my father) does,” she said, continuing with “melody first, and lyrics second."

Since releasing her first single “Notice Me” in 2010 to acclaim, she has taken the music world by storm. She performed a residency at the storied Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel in 2011. Recently, Joel was featured in The Gap’s “Back to Blue” ad campaign, performing a cover of Billy Joel’s “Just The Way You Are.” While pursuing her music, Joel has also done some television work, voicing roles on Family Guy and actively auditioning on Broadway.

Joel’s two-week run at Café Carlyle will be from Feb. 24-March 7, Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations can be made online by clicking here.
