While Shailene Woodley and her Fault in Our Stars boyfriend, Ansel Elgort, have no problem using Instagram and Twitter to get the word out about their personal and professional lives, their Divergent co-star Theo James swears he will never join social media in any kind of way as long as he lives. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Underworld star is afraid that his home and work worlds may start to de-compartmentalize if he add a photo from a date with girlfriend, Ruth Kearney, to Facebook. Whiplash star and Insurgent sequel baddie Miles Teller isn't quite so shy, and it looks to be paying off. The 27-year-old recently joined the cast of Jonah Hill's latest comedy, Arms and The Dudes.
For the raising stars in the Hollywood of today, putting yourself out there on Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Tumbler and Facebook just comes with the job, but Theo James sees it as a receipt for disaster.
During a recent interview with Flaunt magazine, he explained that although he understood it was a helpful tool for some of his peers, he thought it would wind up doing him a lot more harm than good (via E! News):
"I don't have it and I never will. Other actors I know are really good at it and they rock and roll it, but it's not for me.
"If I post a picture of us having a drink now and get loads of views or comments and stuff, then suddenly you're quite exposed and you're in a world of work.
"I don't think I'd want to share those elements of my private life."
While it would be hard to say if Miles Teller's social media presence has furthered his career in recent years, it certainly hasn't done anything to hurt it.
In addition to staring in the Divergent series and the highly acclaimed hit, Whiplash, Teller will also joining Jonah Hill in Arms and The Dudes.
According to Deadline, the film is based on a true story about a couple of hapless friends turn high-end arms dealers, who hind up way over their heads:
"The story follows two unlikely arms dealers who secured a $300 million contract to supply weapons for U.S. allies in Afghanistan.
"They soon found themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth."
At least, Theo won't even have to worry about the North Korean's leaking any of his nude iCloud selfies.
