At one point, Kurt Angle was everyone's favorite All-American. Then, out of nowhere, he opted out of his contract and joined TNA wrestling. Now, in recent news, Angle was revealed as TNA's number one rank for the upcoming 20-man gauntlet match. This make fans revisit why Angle left the WWE in the first place, and if there is any chance he will return one day.
Before his time as a professional, Angle had a famously successful wrestling career at Clarion University in Pennsylvania. During his time there, he stacked a large amount of awards, including being a two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 champion and a three-time NCAA Division 1 All-American.
Eventually, Angle found his home with the WWE, and he made several successful championship runs. However, this all came to an end when he up and left fans and Vince McMahon hanging.
Now, he performs with TNA, and according to Wrestle Zone, he has a good chance of winning the upcoming gauntlet:
"TNA has revealed the following rankings for this week's upcoming gauntlet match to determine another title contender to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship...he Top 5 this week will get the advantage in this coming week's 20 man gauntlet match by being the last 5 entrants. The Injury to Bobby Roode...took him out of the Top 5 for this week...Kurt Angle made his intentions clear that his focus is on the World Title...this moved him up the rankings to Number 1..."
For fans that have been with Angle since the early days, TNA doesn't feel like a good fit. According to Inquisitr, he might return to the WWE before he retires:
"It appears as if our Olympic Hero Kurt Angle has had talks with WWE about a return. However, what went down when he spoke to the company? Was there any interest? It seems that Angle wants to end up somewhere to retire, and the former WWE Champion would ideally like to retire after a final run in WWE. Whether or not WWE would allow it is another thing entirely."
